YOKAIMAKI
About the project
Yokaimaki is a 2D horror fishing and cooking simulation game. It follows a 4 day day-night cycle where you spend the first half fishing for some spooky cryptids, and you spend the second half cutting up and cooking them up into some delectable sushi! Every single day you slowly submerge yourself deeper into the water, allowing you to discover new cryptids (each getting their basis in Japanese folk mythology).

My Contribution
During my time as Design Lead, I organized weekly meetings for the design team, compiled our decisions into easily-digestible notes, and presented them at our weekly full team meeting. I also collaborated with Art, Sound, and Programming teams to ensure a cohesive experience for our players. One unique experience that I got as a Design Lead, was the ability to present code implementation strategies to the rest of the developers when their tasks were being assigned. Despite the fact that I was technically the Design Lead, in that moment I feel as if I stepped into a kind of simulatenous Design-Engineering Lead position. And as a general programmer on Open Alpha, I programmed mechanics for our games using C# and Unity, while also serving as a programming mentor to new members learning Unity.
